What is kendo?

Kendo is a Japanese martial art descended from kenjutsu, which comprises the methods, techniques, and art of the Japanese sword (katana) as originated by the samurai class of feudal Japan.

Today, practitioners of kendo use bamboo swords (shinai) and wear armor (bōgu).

Seitokan (which means “Academy of the Sacred Sword”) aims to maintain a safe, inclusive training environment that encourages character development and strengthens the mind, body, and spirit through rigorous and correct training.

Kendo is a way to discipline the human character through application of the principles of the katana.
